History of Giorgio Armani and his brand
The Emporio Armani brand is part of the world famous Giorgio Armani fashion house. The Armani name has become synonymous within the fashion industry with not only clothes carrying the Armani name but with fragrances, watches, jewellery and other items of apparel becoming part of it. Giorgio Armani has built a fashion house that has become the envy of the fashion world and has created designs that have captured the imagination of fashion followers all over the planet.
Giorgio Armani was born in Piacanza in Italy in 1934. His first foray into the world of fashion design was in 1964 where her joined the famous Italian outfitters Nino Cerruti, here he began designing the men&rsquos Hitman range. The Hitman range was to be Giorgio Armani&rsquos first real success in the fashion world. In 1970 on the back of this success, Armani left his position within the Nino Cerruti team to embark on a career as a freelance fashion designer.
Freelance success soon followed Giorgio Armani and in 1975 he joined with Sergio Galeotti who helped Giorgio to create his own fashion label. The first clothes collection was created for both males and females. The collection was a ready to wear range of clothes that were subtle yet classic. This would become the trade-mark style of clothes created by Giorgio Armani and in 1979 the Giorgio Armani Corporation was formed in the USA which was to become the company's home.
The move to the USA soon paid dividend when Hollywood film companies began to place orders for clothing with big name films such as "American Gigolo" and "Batman" all placing orders. By partnering with the film industry the Armani brand was now pushed into the public domain. As well as this, TV series such as"Miami Vice" were soon to follow and the famous pastel suit of Tubbs and Crockett was to become one of the Iconic images of the 80's. The Giorgio Armani suit became something to aspire to and an item of clothing every man wanted to own. The 80's also saw the creation of Emporio Armani, a subdivision of the main label Giorgio Armani. The Emporio Armani label was aimed at capturing the hearts and minds of a younger audience. In 1985 Sergio Galeotti who had been integral to building of the Armani brand died. This was a huge blow to the company and upon his death he left his share of the company to Giorgio thus making him the sole owner of this multinational company.Emporio Armani ladies watches and Emporio Armani men's watches that would match the brand image that had been initially created by Giorgio Armani.
In the 1990's the Giorgio Armani Corporation expanded its new Emporio Armani venture by creating Emporio Armani stores. These stores were aimed at a much younger cliental than the Giorgio Armani aspect of the company. The late 1990's also saw a diversification of the Giorgio Armani Corporation's core market. A licensing agreement was signed with Fossil, the USA's largest watch manufacture, to create the first range watches to carry the Armani brand name. The collection was to be branded as part of the subsidiary Giorgio Armani brand; Emporio Armani. The first Emporio Armani watches were a blend of classic style and designer chic. The Armani watch was designed as a fashion accessory that would last the test of time. Fossil have since expanded on the Armani watch collection adding and updating original styles like the AR0181. This watch is an update of one of the first Emporio Armani men's watches, During the early stages of the Fossil and Emporio Armani partnership, the men's Emporio Armani watch collection grew and evolved at a much faster rate than that of the Emporio Armani women's watch collection. However in 2008, the ladies Armani watch range was finally added to with styles such as the AR5742. This was then further added to in 2009, with styles such as the AR0714.
From this successful partnership between Fossil and Emporio Armani, the two teamed up again to create the Emporio Armani jewellery range. The Armani Jewellery is made from Silver and Steel and has become hugely successful.
