History of D&G

Dolce and Gabbana have become fashion leaders of Hollywood, with stars like Madonna, Angelina Jolie, Tom Cruise and David Beckham and far too many more to mention are all avid fans. Dolce & Gabbana or Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana 1st began the heady climb to fashion stardom back in 1982 when the 2 young designers set up their first fashion studio in the capital of fashion Milan. They worked hard at the beginning freelance designing for other fashion houses until in 1985 when Dolce & Gabbana were selected along with 2 other designers to show case their talents at the Milan Collezioni event. This was to be Dolce and Gabbana’s big break they wow the on looking fashion press with their sexy designs and so the label D & G was formed. Dolce and Gabbana’s first full collection came out the following year, which would include prints and revealing lingerie and would be the start of things to come.

In the late 80’s D&G open their first show room and with this they acquired some celebrity A list fans with the likes of the queen of pop Madonna and Isabella Rossellini. This would see the brand D&G elevated onto a new level and be the start of the D & G label going global.

The 90’s saw D&G launch their first men’s range of clothing soon followed by beach wear, then the marketing tool that fashion designers dream of D & G were asked to make the costumes for Madonna’s world tour which would later be screen as a film diary. This was the stepping board to fame and fortune for Dolce and Gabbana who soon after entered their clothes into the American market.

Now in 00’s D & G have added perfume, watches and jewellery into the wide portfolio. D&G watches have become one of the massive successes of the 00’s bringing that fun and sexiness to the world of watch making. D&G use of Swarovski crystal in the Jaclyn to simulate the bling of Diamonds has started a revolution in watch making with many more that followed like the Night & Day, and the Day & Night.
