The Hamilton brand is one of the oldest watch brands in the world. It was founded in America and was formally the watch of choice for many of the American presidents. The Hamilton brand is now part of the famous Swiss watch company, Swatch Group.

Hamilton watches began life in the American town of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, 1892. The Hamilton watch company made their first real indelible mark on American history with the creation of the limited broadway series of pocket watches. These pocket watches had unrivalled timekeeping accuracy and were soon adopted by the American railroad companies because of this. This timekeeping accuracy helped the railroad companies put a stop to the massive influx of serious accidents that had blighted the growth of the railroads. This was the beginning of a long and illustrious journey for Hamilton which would see the brand named "the watch with Railroad accuracy." After the turn of the century, this brand recognition would see Hamilton capture one of its largest clients to date, with Hamilton Watches becoming the wrist watch of choice of the US armed forces. Hamilton created their first watch for American soldiers fighting in the trenches in Europe during the Great War.

Due to supplying American forces in World War II, Hamilton stopped all commercial production to the general public and concentrated all of their efforts on solely supplying US soldiers in Europe and Asia. This was to be their biggest challenge and would lead to new advancement in watch making for mass consumers.

Despite Hamilton's illustrious history for providing timepieces for the railroad and the American war effort, the company is also credited for creating the world’s first electric watch. This was famously sported by the King of Rock and Roll, Elvis, in the film "Blue Hawaii." The watch worn was the Ventura and it is still part of the Hamilton watch range today. Hamilton further developed their watches by creating the first digital watch to start measuring time in 1970. This innovation was to change the core of the watch industry and would lead to everything we now take for granted in our watches today.

The 90's and 00's saw massive changes to the Hamilton watch company. Hamilton began to secure contracts with big movie companies. These movies included "The Talented Mr Ripley" where the actor Matt Damon wore the Ardmore and "The Generals Daughter" where the actor John Travolta wore the Khaki Hamilton watch. The 00's brought movies such as "Men in Black 2" with the actor Will Smith sporting the Ventura and "Spartan" where Val Kilmer wore the Khaki Field mechanical watch and finally "Superman" where James Marsden wore the Khaki GMT.

During the 00's the Hamilton brand underwent a further transformation with the famous Swatch Group adding the illustrious company to their already large range of watch companies. Today, the chosen watch of movie stars is a Swiss-made timepiece, so why don't you take a look at this fantastic range of Hamilton watches carried by Hot Watches by clicking on this link and become part of Hamilton's stylish elite.
